What Does a Luxury Yacht Charter in Greece Really Cost in 2026?

Two of the most common questions I receive are: “How much does a yacht charter in Greece actually cost?” and “Has the conflict involving Iran affected travel to Greece?”

Has the conflict involving Iran affected travel to Greece?

Let’s start with the second question first. Having just returned from Greece myself, I can share my firsthand experience: life throughout the Greek islands, marinas, restaurants, and tourist destinations felt completely normal. Visitors were enjoying their vacations, yachts were chartering as usual, and there was no visible impact on day-to-day tourism where I traveled.

Unfortunately, headlines can sometimes make an entire region feel unstable when the reality on the ground is very different. Greece remains one of the most popular yacht charter destinations in the world, and many travelers are continuing with their summer and 2026 vacation plans.

That said, it’s always important to stay informed, monitor official travel advisories, and work with trusted travel professionals when planning international travel.

My advice? Don’t let fear-driven headlines make your travel decisions for you. Do your research, look at the facts, and talk with people who are actually there.

Based on what I experienced firsthand, Greece remains as beautiful, welcoming, and unforgettable as ever.

“How much does a yacht charter in Greece actually cost?

The short answer is that a luxury yacht charter in Greece can range anywhere from about €20,000 per week for a crewed catamaran to well over €200,000 per week for a luxury motor yacht or superyacht.

The longer answer is that there are several factors that determine the final cost of a charter, and understanding them can help you plan the perfect trip without surprises.

The Yacht Charter Fee

The charter fee is the weekly rate for the yacht itself and includes the yacht, professional crew, and use of the yacht’s onboard amenities and water toys.

For example:

  • Luxury catamarans often start around €25,000–€50,000 per week.
  • Larger catamarans and power catamarans may range from €50,000–€100,000 per week.
  • Luxury motor yachts and superyachts can range from €100,000 to several hundred thousand euros per week.

The yacht you choose will typically have the biggest impact on your overall budget.

What Is APA?

Most Greece yacht charters operate on an APA system, which stands for Advance Provisioning Allowance.

APA is a separate fund used to cover trip-related expenses such as:

  • Fuel
  • Food and beverages
  • Dockage and marina fees
  • Special requests
  • Local provisioning

Typically, APA is calculated at approximately 25% to 40% of the yacht’s charter fee.

For example, if your yacht charter fee is €40,000, your APA may be approximately €10,000 to €16,000.

Any unused APA is returned at the end of the charter, while additional expenses beyond the APA would be settled onboard.

What About VAT?

In Greece, VAT is charged separately from the yacht charter fee. The VAT in Greece is 6-13%

So if your charter is €40,000, then your VAT could be €2,400 to €5,200

The exact percentage can change based on government regulations. Even if you book at 13% and it changes by the time your charter happens, then it will go down to that rate.

Crew Gratuity

Crew gratuities are always at the discretion of the guest. While never mandatory, most guests choose to tip based on the quality of service they receive during the charter.

A common guideline is approximately 5-10% of the charter fee.

Exceptional crews often become one of the most memorable parts of the entire charter experience.

Real-World Charter Examples

Example 2: Luxury Charter for Two Families on a 60FT Catamaran

These can sleep 8-12 people. 4 or 5 couples, €45,900 to €36,600 per couple.

Is a Yacht Charter Worth It?

For many travelers, the answer is ABSOLUTELY!

A yacht charter combines luxury accommodations, transportation, private dining, personalized service, water activities, and access to multiple destinations into one completely customized experience.

Instead of unpacking and repacking between hotels, ferries, and flights, your luxury accommodation travels with you.

You wake up somewhere new every day, you have your coffee handed to you, your meals made for you, and everything is handled by your crew.

When Should You Book for 2026?

If you’re considering a Greece yacht charter for Summer 2026, now.

The most sought-after yachts and peak summer weeks often book 12 to 18 months in advance, but right now there are several openings for this year. Oh, should you be so lucky to go!

If this year is not in the cards, then looking in October for the next season is the best time to start. Starting early gives you the best yacht selection, the best itineraries, and the most flexibility.
